I love art. I'm 15 years old and love to go to museums and exhibitions and little galleries. But I think sometimes the line between art and just a drawing is very small. I think we all agree that what Leonardo Da Vinci, Rembrandt, Rubens, Van Eyck, Van Goch,... made, is art. But is a line on a paper art? And why (not)? Sometimes I can watch for hours to just 1 painting, and other paintings don't say anything to me. What makes something so special that it is called art? I hate it when people say: "Oh, I love art!" and when you ask which artists they know, they can only name two. Also, art is something from all times. Not only Rembrandt en Da Vinci are artists. Also Man Ray, Degas, Frida Kahlo, Lucian Freud, Magritte, Marcel Duchamps,... Also, not only paintings are art. One time, I was in Paris at the Palais de Tokyo and there was an piece of art that really got me thinking. I can't remember from who it was but it was a massive load of trash in a room and when you read the instrctions, it said that there were corridors and rooms in the mountain of waste. you could go in there but I was to young unfortunatly. But for the rest of the day, I had this strange feeling in my stomach. That piece of art made me feel a lot of things and think about things I never did before. That's what art is supposed to do. It's supposed to bring a message. Something, to tell it's more than just a painting on the wall, or a statue. Like it's hiding a secret, even when it isn't. I'm sorry, I'm over reacting :P It's just something to think about.
